One for every time he hanged a pauper, cut a wage and sold a governess to a well-connected rapist. Jack Farthing being an awkward sort though, he will insist on having such talent that it’s impossible to enjoy his character being mistreated so....

Poldark Season 5 Episode 7 Poldark has never trusted its viewers to have much of an attention span. It seems to worry we’ll get bored if a scene lasts any longer than it takes somebody to gaze out of a window and sigh. Conversations are sliced up and filleted to the extent that it can feel as though we’re watching a continual procession of arrivals and exits interspersed with snippets of dialogue and the odd screensaver shot of a dewy cobweb or some poignant geese or the glittering Cornish sea....

Shameless Season 11 Episode 4 “This only ends with death.” Shameless is at its strongest when it has a focused story arc to commit to and so season 11’s more laid back nature hasn’t done the series any favors. Star Trek Discovery wraps up its third season with a finale that’s equal parts action and empathy, and though the mix of the two doesn’t quite work as well as some viewers might like, the end result is fairly solid. Despite an occasional overreliance on fight sequences, “That Hope is You, Part 2” ultimately affirms the central messages of this season – that connection matters, the ways we care about people are important, that empathy is its own kind of superpower, both for ourselves and others....

Although Star Trek: Discovery was positioned as a prequel to Star Trek: The Original Series, the edgier nature of the series immediately drew comparisons to Deep Space Nine. And, now that Discovery has jumped well beyond the 23rd century, it’s in the strange position of being a prequel that is now a sequel to all of Trek. In Season 3, Episode 4, “Forget Me Not,” Discovery doesn’t just seem like a sequel to DS9 in its style or grittiness, it literally revisits one of DS9’s most famous planets, the Trill homeworld....

Star Trek: Discovery Season 4 Episode 1 Star Trek: Discovery has been many things over the course of its run: A grim war story, a nostalgia-fueled prequel, and a journey into a far-flung feature unlike anything the franchise had attempted in the past. Over the course of the show’s 40-ish episodes to date, the crew of the U.S.S. Discovery has faced off against Mirror Universe clones, battled an evil A.I. bent on wiping out all life in the universe, and struggled to find the cause of the mysterious Burn, a galaxy-wide disaster that killed millions and crippled the Federation as we know it....

Although Strange New Worlds doesn’t require a casual viewer to know anything about Star Trek, it certainly doesn’t hurt. Especially with the latest episode, the utterly hilarious episode, “Spock Amok.” Right away, even in the title, the episode is referencing the famous Original Series banger, “Amok Time.” You don’t need to have seen “Amok Time” to dig this episode, and frankly, the references to that classic episode are just the tip of the Vulcan Lirpa....

Star Wars: Andor opens up a whole new corner of the galaxy far, far away, one where workers clock in to their jobs at the scrapyard and corporate bureaucracy rules entire sectors of space. It’s here where Cassian is poised to introduce a bit of chaos, as he goes from common crook to the Rebel secret agent we’ve already met in Rogue One. While the first three episodes of the show focus on who Cassian was before there even was a Rebel Alliance to join, they also introduce plenty of other characters, planets, and factions who play a role in the Galactic Civil War to come....

Obi-Wan Kenobi has reached its final act. One climactic duel and a few farewells later, all paths are now pointed directly at the Original Trilogy. As we watch Obi-Wan riding off into the desert beyond Beggar’s Canyon, the Disney+ series has done what it set out to do, bridging the gap between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope. The Jedi Master has made peace with the past; meanwhile, Luke and Leia are safe....

Ahead of the show’s release later this month, we have a new trailer that gives us some new information about what’s going on in Obi-Wan’s latest adventure. Star Wars: The Bad Batch Episode 10 This week’s Disney+ blurb offers a promising subject for an episode that mostly lives up to it: “The Bad Batch has their ideology challenged.” The Clone Wars, The Bad Batch‘s spiritual predecessor, often tried to explore a key element of the Prequel era: there were heroes on both sides of the war. Whether or not that show succeeded isn’t the subject of this review, but The Bad Batch does effectively argue for why the citizens of the Separatist systems are more than their Sidious-adjacent mustache-twirling leaders....

“Return of the Mandalorian” delivers exactly what it says it will. Din Djarin is back, and while he’s fated to help Boba and Fennec, he first addresses many loose threads from The Mandalorian. From reuniting with his clan to getting a new ship, Din is on the metaphorical road in a big way in his crossover appearance in The Book of Boba Fett.
