The reviews are in, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is a great game. It’s certainly not flawless, but it lives up to the legacy set by the original Modern Warfare subseries. That being said, the game shipped missing a few modes that have become standard with the series (most notably “Hardcore Mode”). Thankfully, that oversight will be fixed soon. When Modern Warfare 2 shipped last week, franchise fans were quick to point out that it was missing a Hardcore Mode....

“Higher, further, faster!” runs the motto of Carol Danvers, the star of the 21st instalment in the massive Marvel Cinematic Universe, the movie leading directly into Avengers: Endgame and the first of the MCU movies to be led by, and co-directed by, a woman. So no pressure, then. Looked at in isolation, Captain Marvel is a perfectly decent mid-tier superhero romp with some uplifting and positive female messaging in the second half....

The Paramount-hailing, Eddie Murphy-starring sequel’s December 18 release date has just been shifted all the way to March 5, 2021; an understandable retreat in reaction to a monumental move for the industry made this week by Warner Bros. to shift its biggest tentpole picture of the year, Wonder Woman 1984, to a Christmas Day streaming premiere on HBO Max. However, Paramount’s move—first motivated by a pandemic and later seemingly by a cinematic juggernaut—may prove serendipitous for the Craig Brewer-directed Coming 2 America, since comedy movies have found surprising success and visibility in streaming rather than theaters....

It was likewise announced that the series will be a prequel set before the events that led to young Jason’s death by accidental drowning at the camp. And as almost all horror audiences should know by now, that is the tragedy which caused his mother Mr....

That was the ending to 28 Weeks Later, the bleak continuation to Danny Boyle and Alex Garland‘s classic indie horror hit from 2002. When the sequel released in 2007, helmed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, it seemed to solidify 28 Days Later‘s status as a franchise starter. There were even tie-in comics made at the time! And then silence. Despite favorable reviews (no, it’s not as good as the original but still worthwhile), 28 Weeks Later fell about $20 million short of the first film’s global box office....

In the case of the former, Fincher was speaking with The Daily Telegraph (via Deadline) when he said, “Nobody would have thought they had a shot at a giant hit with Joker had The Dark Knight not been as massive as it was. I don’t think anyone would have looked at that material and thought, ‘Yeah, let’s take [Taxi Driver’s] Travis Bickle and [The King of Comedy’s] Rupert Pupkin and conflate them, then trap him in a betrayal of the mentally ill, and trot it out for a billion dollars....

It’s why when we meet Harbour at New York Comic Con, where he’s promoting his upcoming action-comedy Violent Night (think The Santa Clause meets Die Hard), we feel compelled to say that one of our favorite moments in Stranger Things 4 was Hop having a happy moment with El at the end. “One of the few,” Harbour says with a wry chuckle. And it’s true, Hopper is having a real rough time as of late....

To help clarify matters, Jackman and Ryan Reynolds appeared in a follow-up video posted to social media. Diablo Immortal will live on in infamy as the “out-of-season April Fool’s Day” joke that Blizzard announced at BlizzCon 2018. The game was originally supposed to be for mobile platforms only, but thankfully, that plan changed. A little over a month before the game’s open beta, Blizzard blindsided Diablo fans by announcing a surprise PC port. The good news is that this decision solved one major criticism of Diablo Immortal: The title was designed for smartphones, but the majority of Diablo fans play the games on PC....

Diablo Immortal offers a variety of timed Zone Events, but the sad fact of the matter is that many of them are simply not worth setting your watch to. One of the notable exceptions to that rule is the Haunted Carriage event. While it might not seem that impressive compared to some of Diablo Immortal‘s other events, the Haunted Carriage’s bi-weekly patrols really do set a pretty high bar for Zone Event rewards....

The Diablo franchise has always let players choose between a vareity of classes, but once you’ve chosen your starter class, the games usually lock you into your selections until you decide to start over. Diablo Immortal tries something a little different. When players start Diablo Immortal, they can pick from several classic classes, including the brutal Barbarian, noble Crusader, and the edgy Demon Hunter. Plus, more are on the way if leaks are to be believed....

As a major free-to-play game in the modern era, it should come as no surprise that Diablo Immortal offers quite a few microtransactions. The big question at the moment, though, is whether all of those microtransactions add up to make Diablo Immortal a “pay-to-win” game. See, even though quite a few free-to-play and mobile titles offer microtransactions, not all microtransactions are made equally. Some grant you access to simple things like in-game cosmetics, while others offer substantial gameplay advantages or even direct competitive advantages....

There’s never really an ideal time to premiere a TV show about war. Invariably, someone somewhere on the globe is experiencing the brutal destruction of armed combat at any given moment, making a fictionalized depiction of it a dicey proposition for any storyteller. This is a lesson that HBO Max limited series DMZ understands quite intimately. The DC comic upon which HBO Max’s series is based was first released in 2005 and served as a commentary on its era’s wars in the Middle East....

John Bishop is very well known in his native United Kingdom, mostly for his output as an award-winning stand-up comedian, and for being a mainstay of some of the country’s best-loved panel shows. In the US, he’s a less familiar face – a consequence of the US comedy scene being harder to break into than Fort Knox in a time eddy. Even in the UK there may be pockets of Who viewers unfamiliar with Bishop’s work, especially as ever-fewer people aged 16-34 are choosing to watch broadcast TV....

Here, though, Russell T. Davies is returning to an Executive Producer role alongside Julie Gardner and Jane Tranter (who were also integral to the show’s success when it returned in 2005). As showrunner, he’ll have much more impact than Letts and Holmes did upon their return. Before we get to speculation about what this means for Doctor Who, let’s look at some facts. Whatever you think of RTD’s take on the show, it was huge....

‘The Power of the Doctor’ was one of the most hotly anticipated Doctor Who episodes in the show’s history, as we prepared to say goodbye not just to Jodie Whittaker but Mandip Gill, John Bishop and showrunner Chris Chibnall, plus rumours circulated wildly about an unexpected regeneration twist. When the episode aired on Sunday night, fans and critics alike ate it up, live-tweeting their reactions with gusto – and from the reactions so far, ‘The Power of the Doctor’ certainly didn’t disappoint....

‘The Dalek Invasion of Earth’ capitalised on the initial success of the first Dalek story, and boosted the show’s ratings. The plan for the following series was to capitalise on that and so another six-parter was scheduled for the same time of year. As Season 2’s ‘Planet of the Giants‘ had been edited down to three episodes from four the BBC gave the production team an extra episode for Season 3, and it was decided that this would act as a prelude to the new Dalek story to build anticipation....

By being very good. Dr. No includes most classic James Bond elements while remaining grounded in reality (relatively speaking). It’s not the best Bond, but certainly a contender for top five. Perhaps a little slow for those raised on a diet of Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig. Everyone else is in for a treat. A good drinking game: take a shot every time the film visually turns into a Stella Artois advert (sun, suits, painfully stylish)....
