The first season of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is essentially perfect television, a delightful space adventure whose episodic storytelling has allowed it to explore many different kinds of genres. From tense submarine thrillers and goofy bodyswap romantic comedies to fantastical children’s tales and dark horror stories, each hour manages to be entertaining in its own right while still telling us, as viewers, something worthwhile about the characters we’re watching....

But just looking at the ratio of screen time to controversial decisions, it’s hard to outdo Captain Edward Jellico, who took command of the Enterprise-D in the classic Star Trek: The Next Generation two-parter “Chain of Command.” The tenth and eleventh episodes of Next Generation‘s sixth season, “Chain of Command” parts one and two found Captain Picard, Lieutenant Worf, and Dr. Crusher sent by Starfleet on a secret mission in Cardassian space....

The completely unsatisfying answer is that we simply don’t know what’s next for Luke. We know where his story is ultimately headed, thanks to The Last Jedi, but we know he got up to many adventures between the Original Trilogy and his return in The Force Awakens. It’s not unreasonable to speculate that some of these untold Luke stories could intersect with The Mandalorian, Ahsoka, Rangers of the New Republic, or the eventual big crossover event that will tie all of these Disney+ shows together....

Here are all of the easter eggs and Star Wars references we’ve found in “The Jedi” so far: Ahsoka Tano – Fan-favorite Jedi hero Ahsoka Tano finally makes her live action debut in “The Jedi.” She’s played by Rosario Dawson here. As if she simply leapt out of the animated series and onto The Mandalorian, Ahsoka looks almost exactly like she did on Rebels, wearing similar attire and armed with the white lightsabers she used before the Galactic Civil War....

Boba Fett’s signature Slave I ship has apparently lost its name in the official Star Wars canon, as indicated by Disney’s alleged recent request to the LEGO company regarding a new toy rendition of the ship. Intriguingly, with the direction of merchandising—specifically toys—sometimes proving to be a leading indicator for imminent onscreen developments, it’s quite feasible that the revocation of the ship’s name might be confirmed onscreen on the bounty hunter’s upcoming Disney+ series, The Book of Boba Fett....

According to multiple reports, the British actor’s death was confirmed via Twitter by his management, which stated, “It’s with great regret and heart-wrenching sadness for us and millions of fans around the world, to announce that our client DAVE PROWSE M.B.E. has passed away at the age of 85.” Although Vader was famously voiced by American actor James Earl Jones, it was Prowse’s massive six-foot, six-inch body that filled out the black suit and mask worn by the Sith Lord once known as Anakin Skywalker....

The CW has long had a light stranglehold on TV superheroes. Since the debut of Arrow eight years ago, the channel has excelled at bringing DC Comics heroes to the screen in a thoroughly enjoyable, generally family friendly fashion. DC Universe launched in 2018, bringing more niche stars to the roster including the very R-rated Titans and the strange, crude, and lovable Doom Patrol. Stargirl is the first of DC Universe’s shows to make the transition to The CW, with the show essentially simulcast, hitting the DC streamer one day earlier than it hits the network....

If you’re a fan of fantasy, you’ve probably heard of a wood nymph, or Dryad, before. Many of us will have first met them in C.S. Lewis’ Chronicles of Narnia, where they appear as the female spirits of the trees, but their history goes back much further than that, to Greek mythology. There are lots of nymphs in Greek mythology; they’re minor deities associated with different parts of nature. They look after everything from wells, lakes, and springs, to beaches, pastures, and cooling breezes....

That is, unless Taika Waititi’s mystery Star Wars movie takes Rogue Squadron‘s place on the release schedule. In fact, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy suggested this could indeed be the case in an interview with Total Film, saying that the studio was aiming for a “late 2023” release for Waititi’s installment, but that they hadn’t officially “locked anything in....

But why are the topics of ghosts, monsters, aliens, “meat rain” (more on that below), and other phenomena that could be flippantly dismissed as tabloid site fodder given a home on Den of Geek, an entertainment news outlet?
