Near the end of A Discovery of Witches season two, episode eight, Peter Knox walks into the hospital room where new parents Sophie and Nathaniel are recovering from the birth of their daughter Margaret (no, nobody else is much keen on the name either). As a powerful witch who represents his people on political assembly the Congregation, he’s there to verify that the baby is – as he’s been told – a witch born to daemons, and then to kidnap the child so that she can be raised by her own species....

Packed with increasingly strange spiralling twists, with a highly manipulative paedophile at the centre of a story that’s almost too weird to be believed, Abducted in Plain Sight is certainly full of surprises. The darkest yet? Not for our money (but then we watched a bomb go off round someone’s neck in Evil Genius, so, you know, it’s not a competition…) though this is certainly a crazy-compelling story, that for once does have a bit of redemption at the end....

For four seasons now, Marvel Studios’ inaugural series has hovered around greatness but never quite achieved that milestone. Think about it, when Agents of SHIELD began, it was a show that continued the story of the likable SHIELD agent dude that Loki killed in The Avengers, and that was pretty much it. People were expecting the ABC actioner to be an extension of the Marvel films, but it soon become apparent that Agents of SHIELD would be movie-adjacent at best....

And all that’s happening in the background of Agents of SHIELD while Graviton and his cadre of alien killers prepare to attack an Earth already being besieged by Thanos. Man, the MCU is busy. With Thanos in the midst of his attack (which we know about through background news reports, it’s all very meta), Glenn Talbot, in his new guise of Graviton, wants a power up in order to defend the world from Thanos....

Batwoman Season 3 Episode 11 Last night’s episode of Batwoman finally made Wildmoore canon. The episode, which also saw Ryan Wilder and Jada Jett come to Jesus, was directed by the show’s very own Luke Fox, Camrus Johnson. We talked to him about his directorial debut, his favorite scenes to shoot, and more. In “Broken Toys,” Marquis Jet is on the loose, and the Bat Team needs to fix the joybuzzer so they can try to save him....

The latest episode of Batwoman, “Time Off For Good Behavior,” continues this season’s trend of examining Gotham’s authoritative structures from new angles and through different lenses. Ryan Wilder is the product of a system that not only did not protect her but actively worked to ensure that she and other kids like her did not escape the cycles of poverty and violence that trap them in lives of criminality. Ryan was adopted out of foster care in her late teens, which saved her, but didn’t spare her from being preyed upon by those who sought to take advantage of the weak and vulnerable....

But The Last Duel was not received at all, warmly or otherwise, by audiences since the film opened to less than $5 million in its opening weekend last October. And that meek number came despite Affleck ostensibly starring as the most recent and popular iteration of the Dark Knight in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and this year’s belated HBO Max release of Zack Snyder’s Justice League. All of Us Are Dead Adapted from a Naver webtoon of the same name, 지금 우리 학교는 (which translates directly as “Our School Now”) follows a group of high school students as they fight to stay alive when their school becomes ground zero for a zombie outbreak. Though the TV show isn’t doing anything new with the zombie trope, it is doing it well, with plenty of gore, social commentary, and character moments to sustain the story across 12 episodes....

All of this means we can finally do a comprehensive break-down to decide which show is the better overall product. From the uncanny acting ability of Bryan Cranston and Bob Odenkirk, to the pristine neo-Western style of the cinematography, a lot of factors will sway our decision. The one thing we know for sure is that we will be hard pressed to ever be treated to multiple series in the same universe that are this incredibly crafted ever again....
