You probably assume that Elden Ring‘s Legendary sorceries have to be among the most powerful spells in the game. While there are a few that deserve that honor, the strange fact of the matter is that most Legendary spells are more flashy than functional. The journey required to acquire them is often more significant than the reward itself. Still, anyone interested in unlocking every Elden Ring achievement or simply seeing everything this game has to offer will need to know where to find the game’s collection of Legendary spells.
Elden Ring: Where to Find Flame of the Fell God
Flame of the Fell God is a spell that enables you to conjure a meteor-sized fireball and throw it at some unfortunate enemy. The giant fireball explodes on contact and soon covers the surrounding area with deadly flames. You’ll acquire the Flame of the Fell God spell after you defeat Adan, Thief of Fire. You can find him at Malefactor’s Evergaol in Liurnia of the Lakes.
Elden Ring: Where to Find Greyoll’s Roar
Greyoll’s Roar is another strange Legendary spell. It does a decent amount of damage, but it’s best used as an AOE debuff that reduces nearby enemies’ total attack power for about 60 seconds. This spell is somewhat useful in PvP situations, but it’s a bit too slow and expensive to rely on in most high-level battles. It’s also quite good when given to a Mimic Tear summon, but you’d honestly probably rather have that summon just focus on dealing damage. Ultimately, it’s hard to find a home for this unique ability. You can purchase Greyoll’s Roar from the Dragon Communion Altar at the Cathedral of Dragon Communion after you defeat Greyoll.
Elden Ring: Where to Find Elden Stars
Elden Stars allows you to summon a barrage of homing projectiles that attack nearby enemies. The individual projectiles don’t do a ton of damage, but they can absolutely wreck an enemy’s poise and keep them stunned. To find Elden Stars, you’ll need to go to Great Waterfall Crest and enter the nearby cave. There, you’ll fight through groups of giant ants until you find a body that has the Elden Stars spell on it.
Elden Ring: Where to Find Founding Rain of Stars
The Founding Rain of Stars spell allows you to conjure a rainstorm of deadly projectiles that deal a respectable amount of damage to any enemies in the immediate area. In other words, it’s basically exactly what you expect it to be based on the name. This is yet another Legendary Elden Ring spell that just is ultimately too slow and too expensive to fit into most rotations. It’s a decent AOE ability that punishes enemies for getting too close, but it’s hard to justify using this over cheaper and faster spells that will often just kill those enemies quicker. To acquire this spell, you’ll need to access Heretical Rise in Mountaintops of the Giants. To get there, you’ll have to cross an invisible bridge that spans the nearby ravine. The white mist that flows throughout that area will lead you along the safe path.
Elden Ring: Where to Find Ranni’s Dark Moon
This spell slowly summons a massive magical moon that you can fire at enemies. The projectile is strong enough to kill a lot of enemies on contact, while anything that survives will have to deal with a magic negation debuff as well as some frost damage. You’ll find this spell in a chest atop Altar South tower. Unlocking that tower will require you to find three nearby magical tortoises. This guide will tell you how to do it.
Elden Ring: Where to Find Comet Azur
Comet Azur is an incredibly powerful Elden Ring spell that allows you to fire a massive beam of pure magical energy. The beam consumes quite a lot of FP, but the results are often worth it. Simply put, this is probably the best Legendary spell in Elden Ring. If you’re willing to build your character around this spell, you’ll find that it’s more than capable of melting some of the toughest foes in the game in just a few seconds. To find this spell, you’ll need to head to Hermit Village in Mt. Gelmir. In the northeast part of that area, you’ll meet Primeval Sorcerer Azur. He’ll give you what you’ll need to learn the spell.
Elden Ring: Where to Find Stars of Ruin
Stars of Ruin is a relatively simple spell (at least compared to other Legendary spells) that conjures twelve magical missiles that are capable of pursuing nearby enemies. Acquiring this spell is a surprisingly complicated process that ultimately requires you to break a Sellian seal that leads you to Master Lusat. To do that, you’ll need to complete the following steps of the Sellen questline:
